Teacher: Tra Ly Nguyen We had two sessions with students of Tra Ly Nguyen. First one was with older students. They informed us that Vietnam is a country with many poor people. The people living in the rural part of Vietnam have enough for food, as they grow their own food (like vegetables, fruits, meat) but do not have enough money to travel, or anything except for the basic needs. They showed to us their daily menu for 1.25$ and we liked it very much. Check the pictures in the slide show and see how tasteful is their food :) SESSION 1 SESSION 2 Second session with 11 years old students was so interesting! Before we started, they tried to guess what is my country and it was not so easy task for them. Then, they presented what they eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They calculated everything in Vietnam's currency called Dong, and converted them to Dollars. They learned not just about Sustainable development goal No1 - No poverty, but also about numbers, transferring currencies and family budget. They were so lovely! Thank you!!!

Teacher: Alexander Forrest It was such an inspiring session between Serbia and Scotland. It was really interesting to see the difference in prices - we were specially amazed at the price of fish! We couldn't find the answer why the fish is much cheaper in Serbia then in Scotland, when Scotland is a fisherman's country, and Serbia even doesn't have a sea. We exchanged the prices of food, and our daily menus for 1.25$ a day. They said that food in Scotland is expensive, but at the end of the day, in some stores the price of food is reduced, so it can be a lot cheaper. Also they have a Food bank that helps poor people. Thank you for the awesome session! We learned a lot! Teacher: MOHAMMED MAHMOUD ABO HASSAN I was so excited today about sharing "Living on 1.25$ a day" Skype collaboration with my dear friend Mohammed Abo Hassan - an Egyptian teacher who works in Bahrain. We had two sessions today, with different students. Except for introducing my project, they wanted to know more about Serbia, and I was amazed how much they know about sport, specially about Serbian football players. Check some screenshots from these meetings: SESSION 1 SESSION 2 We were surprised by the visits we had during our sessions. I was honored to meet Assistant principal, Computer science teacher, ICT specialist and a Math teacher from his school. We tried to make some Selfies for the #MysterySkype Selfie Challenge. It was not so easy, but we took few quite good ones. Check how it went in next slideshow, thanks to Mohammed and his friend Mr. Ragab Fekry AbdElgaid. The best ones :)
Teacher: Luciano Lima I had a wonderful Skype session with Brazilian teacher Luciano Lima and his clever students. Firstly, I've presented to them some facts about Serbia, because they didn't know anything about my country, and they promised to tell me next time something more about Brazil. After that, I've introduced to them "Living on 1.25$ a day" Skype collaboration and I'm eagerly waiting for their results. |
